RN - Health Science Careers Teacher - 25-26 SY

Walla Walla Public Schools

Registered Nurse Teaching Position with Walla Walla Public Schools:

– Teach Health Science Careers class to high school students at SEATech Skills Center.
– Teach a session of “Health” during a summer session (about 14 days).
– Serve as Director of the Nursing Assistant Certified program.
– Teach to the Washington State standards for Nursing Assistant Certified (NAC) and the approved CTE curriculum frameworks for this program.
– Maintain safe, orderly and clean lab facilities/equipment.
– Design and implement curriculum, lesson plans, assessments, and project-based learning activities aligned to WA State Learning Standards, Industry Standards, and 21st Century Skills Standards, as identified in approved CTE Frameworks.
– Serve as CTSO advisor in expanding student leadership opportunities in regional, state, and local competitions.
– Incorporate new and emerging technology into the instructional process.
– Establish and maintain partnerships with the Health Sciences community and attend all advisory meetings.
– Participate in ongoing professional development to maintain a current working knowledge relevant to the field.
– Supervise and support student work-based learning opportunities through required clinical experiences.

Qualifications:

– Licensed Registered Nurse-Washington State Licensure with a minimum of one year of experience in the last three years (volunteer or paid).
– Meets qualifications to obtain a valid Career and Technical Education Certificate for the State of Washington. Requirement for certification includes a minimum of 6,000 hours work experience as a licensed registered nurse.
– Meet DSHS guidelines to serve as Nursing Assistant Certified program director.
– Minimum of one-year experience providing direct bedside/patient care.
– Currently holds or able to obtain a CPR/First Aid Certification and serve as trainer for students.

Selah School District

School Nurse-RN

 

The job of School Nurse was established for the purpose/s of overseeing the individual health needs of students; implementing health care plans for students with special health needs; ensuring district, state and federal health care practices comply with the laws relating to student health issues; serving as a health care resource to teachers, staff, and administrators; facilitating mandated health screenings and identifying health problems for referral to appropriate parties for proper follow-up treatment.

Summer Camp Nurse

School Nurse

Kittitas, WA

Primary Function: Enhance the safety and educational potential of students by carrying out necessary nursing procedures and interventions within the scope of practice for an RN in the school setting and as indicated by students’ health plans and the school district’s policies and procedures. Provide support to and work in partnership with the District Staff. Understand and abide by Kittitas School District Policy, RCW/WAC related to student and school health, Washington State Nurse Practice Act. Travel to and from various district sites to provide nursing services based on changes in student health conditions and in response to district Health Services staffing requirements.

Qualifications: Possess and maintain a current Washington State Registered Nurse (RN) license. Possess and maintain a current Washington State Driver’s license and vehicle insurance.

Ability to operate a computer and word processing software and to learn to operate the school district’s database as well as necessary state websites and databases. Ability to maintain electronic and paper charting and medical records.

Understanding of Nurse Practice Act. Competence in general nursing practice includes but is not limited to diabetic care management, tube feeding, urinary catheterization, basic trach care, universal precautions, containment of blood, and disposal of sharps.

School district, public health, and community health experience preferred.

Possess experience working with children that are medically fragile, medically complex, or have health concerns.

Regional School Nurse Toutle Lake

General Responsibilities: Reporting directly to the Health Services Manager, the Regional School Nurse implements, manages and delivers school health services to school districts and /or agencies.  The school nurse scope of practice is defined by law and regulation and professional school nursing standards.

Salary:
The full salary range for this position is $41.55 – $50.56 per hour*. Offers are made at the beginning of the range.

Assignment:
This position is 10.5 hrs/wk, school year schedule and will serve the Toutle Lake School District.

Substitute Nurse

Thorp, WA

A. Administers first aid, medication and specialized medical treatment for the purpose of providing appropriate
care for ill, medically fragile and/or injured students.
B. Maintains student medication and corresponding records, receipts in new medications, contacts
parents when necessary, notifies the district nurse of medication changes.
C. Collaborates with parents, students, health care providers, and/or other agencies for the purpose of providing
appropriate treatments, securing information and complying with the law.
D. Provide care for students with special physical needs as needed after receiving training and under the direction
of the district nurse (including, but not limited to: catheterization, insulin administration, and gastrostomy tube
feedings).
E. Maintains and implements Emergency and Individual Health care plans as directed by physicians.
F. Reports incidents to administration, CPS, or proper authorities for incidents such as bullying, intentional injuries
caused by another individual, suspected child abuse: physical, sexual or medical neglect, or suspected substance
abuse to maintain student’s personal safety, a positive learning environment and adhering to education code,
district and/or school policies.
G. Prepares documentation for health records for all students consistent with school policies, administrative
direction, and state and federal requirements.
H. Maintains compliance with the Washington state law regarding immunization requirements.
I. Acts as a resource person for school office personnel who are responsible for administering emergency first aid
treatment.
J. Participates in staffing for students as part of the building team.
K. Collaborates with the Lead School District Nurse to provide wrap around services for students.
L. Reports contagious diseases to local public health authorities for the purpose of minimizing infection and
complying with the law.
M. Administer Rapid COVID tests.
N. Assist Office Manager.
O. Maintain accurate records of all students under the direction of the Administrative Assistant to the
Superintendent.
P. Assist staff, parents, visitors and students; answer phones and follow-up.
Q. Attend in-services, workshops, and meetings as directed.

Qualifications 1. Valid Washington State license as a LPN or RN.
2. Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
